As part of our growth, we’re establishing a dynamic engineering team in Poland and are seeking a hands-on Staff Software Engineer to spearhead this initiative.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced developer with leadership potential to help build a team, contribute directly to the codebase, and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our global engineering operations.
Role Overview
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will serve as both a technical expert and a mentor, leading by example through active coding while helping to establish and support a Poland-based engineering team. You will collaborate closely with US-based teams to ensure alignment, quality, and the successful delivery of projects. This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership:
Design and architect scalable solutions, express complexities through design documentation and delegate work to team members.
Act as a hands-on contributor, participating in code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting complex issues.
Write high-quality, maintainable code primarily in Python, SQL, and Goensuring readability, scalability and performance.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of Azure-based solutions, including cloud-native applications, data pipelines, and APIs.
Team Development:
Assist in hiring and onboarding engineers in Poland, fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to team members, encouraging professional growth and skills development.
Adopt and evolve best practices for development, testing, and deployment within the team.
Collaboration:
Work closely with US-based teams, including engineering, product management, and leadership, to align priorities, deliverables, and timelines.
Ensure clear communication and collaboration across time zones, using tools like Teams, Azure Boards, and GitHub.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, automation, and code quality standards.
Drive initiatives for operational excellence, including monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud-based applications.
Qualifications
Technical Skills:
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant expertise in:
Go for backend development.
Python for data pipeline scripting
SQL for data manipulation and querying.
Azure or comparable cloud platform experience. Direct experience with services such as Azure Container Apps, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure Kubernetes Service is a bonus
Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership Skills:
Proven ability to mentor and lead engineering teams while remaining hands-on in development.
Proven skill in balancing customer requirements with tech debt and roadmap commitments while managing full cycle delivery for the team
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-cultural and remote team environments.
Experience in recruiting and building engineering teams is a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
English fluency (both written and spoken) is required.
Experience working with US based companies is required.
